Rain Rot

The bacteria found to cause rain rot lives dormant within the skin and is stimulated when the skin is compromised somehow, usually through prolonged wetness, thus causing rain rot – a bacterial skin disease. It causes hair loss in horses and also leaves large patches of raw and irritated skin.
